Q: What is the TEXAS SHOOTOUT?
A: The TEXAS SHOOTOUT is a nationally recognized showcase tournament designed to promote the highest level of competition available in youth soccer. Exposure to college coaches is a major goal of the TEXAS SHOOTOUT.
Q: How does my team apply?
A: Applications must be filled out online through the Challenge Soccer Club website. Click here to apply now. Once received, your application will be reviewed by the TEXAS SHOOTOUT committee and determinations regarding acceptance will be made and communicated to you as soon as possible.
Q: What is the deadline to apply for the tournament?
A: The deadline to apply to the TEXAS SHOOTOUT is April 1, 2009. Teams are accepted a rolling basis. Please note: U15 and older age groups historically fill up before the April 1st deadline.
Q: Our team has a schedule conflict, what do I do?
A: Major concerns that may prevent a team’s participation can be addressed via email to shootout_schedule@challengesoccer.com .
Q: Where do we get updated information in case of inclement weather?
A: In case of inclement weather, instructions will be given at the tournament headquarters tent at each park, and posted on the Challenge weather/information line at 281-397-2166. Please designate only one person from your team to contact the headquarters tent or weather/information line for changes due to weather. Updated information will also be available on the Challenge Soccer Club website.
Q: What colors does my team wear?
A: As a convenience to both teams, the home team wears their white or light uniform and visitors wear their dark uniform.
Q: When do games begin?
A: U15-U19 teams will begin games on Friday, May 29th at 8:00AM, and conclude by 5:00PM on Sunday, May 31st.
U10-U14 teams will begin play on Saturday, May 30th at 8:00AM unless they request to play one of their games on Friday.
Q: When and where is team check-in?
A: U15-U19 team check-in will take place on Thursday, May 28th at the Meyer Park Pavilion in Spring from 6:00-9:30PM.
U10-U14 team check-in will take place on Friday, May 29th at the Meyer Park Pavilion from 5:00-8:00PM. One team rep from each team is required to attend. We encourage all teams to check-in at these times. However we will make special provisions for teams travelling that cannot make the scheduled check-in. Information will be provided as we get closer to the tournament.
Q: What is required at check-in?
A: Each team must bring player cards and medical release forms for each player. These will be verified against the official team roster, travel papers and guest release forms.
Q: When will the schedule be posted?
A: The schedule will be posted 7-10 days prior event. Please check the Challenge Soccer Club website for schedule changes.
Q: What happens in case of injury?
A: There will be medical trainers at each individual site to address any medical issues. If a player needs to be taped prior to playing they should bring their own tape or there will be a $5 charge.
Q: I’ve lost (or found) something at the tournament what should I do?
A: Check with the main headquarters tent located at each site.
Q: How many college coaches attend?
A: Last year over 375 college coaches from NCAA Division One, Division Two, Three and NAIA schools attended the SHOOTOUT. Click here to see a list of coaches from 2008.
Q: Are guest players permitted?
A: Teams may have an unlimited number of guest players, provided their roster size does not exceed 18 (22 players for U17 and up) and the appropriate paperwork is completed. Players’ guest playing for a team outside of their club, must have a player release signed by the releasing coach, and the coach of the team for which the player will be playing. Check with your state office for the necessary paperwork you need to complete. The TEXAS SHOOTOUT does not keep a list of players who wish to guest play.
